How 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' Will Lead MCU Phase 4

With Phase 4 including many stories and characters, the question of which one will be the one that leads all of them is inevitable. Here is why Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the best movie of this phase and how it will lead all others.

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is packed with action and lined with the most intriguing stories and character arcs. The long list includes WandaVision, Black Widow, Loki, Eternals and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. From what has already been released, the audience has been able to witness their beloved side characters get the limelight and a lot of really troublesome mess being left by them in the process. It is of utmost importance to watch WandaVision and Loki because the best movie of the MCU Phase 4 is not only a sequel but also a crossover.

Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a sequel to the 2016 movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch named Doctor Strange. Fans like nothing more than a complex story that references other fan favourites and has the cast of characters from other movies and series of the same franchise. As Doctor Strange is going to be tackling the multiverse problems unleashed by Wanda and Loki, fans can be assured that Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Hiddleston are far from done with the MCU phase 4. The two actors had each starred in their own series, Loki and WandaVision. They are very integral to the movie as their actions in the abovementioned series have resulted in the “madness”. From what can be gathered by the two series, the movie follows the basics of the multiverses and of alternate timelines as laid down in Loki and will also explore Wanda’s powers growing. Even the animated series, What If…?, gets roped into the March 2022 movie as the series explores many Marvel characters in an alternate universe of the Multiverse.

The movie also has Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor reprising their roles. With Benedict Wong coming back as Master Wong, it is possible to say that the recent initiation of Shang Chi into the Avengers is going to play a part in this movie. Till now the Simu Liu starring movie, Shang-Chi and The Legend Of The Ten Rings is standing separate from the rest; not yet been tangled into the web of Marvel. Making Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness the perfect platform to launch the character. When Simu Liu was asked if he would be in the movie, the actor had cheekily replied that he would be there for the premier. Though his response does not clarify any of the doubts, the answer does incite further excitement for the film.

Standing on similar grounds, Eternals had garnered tremendous attention from Marvel fans and its release was highly anticipated by all. The Chloe Zhao directed movie, unfortunately, did not get great reviews prior to its release and the hype for it soon got lost. Yet, the movie has been doing well in the theatres but has paved the way for Doctor Strange to now become the most anticipated movie of the Phase 4 marvel and has also given it the opportunity to make the Eternals also a part of the complex web of Marvel. It is rumoured that Doctor Strange will have easter eggs for the Eternals to blend them and also make a whole lot more sense for the audience.

Variants in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?

With the idea of variants getting so much interest, the speculation of a Mordo Variant coming in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as one of the villains (of course, there is more than one!) is also increasing. Some Marvel leaks channels on discord have also discussed the possibility of Wanda being an anti-hero in the film. Her interests are divulged from those of the other Avengers which can be interpreted and observed from WandaVission herself thus her antagonistic role in this movie. With the movie said to have multiple villains and the hint of “Madness” the movie is also supposed to be a Marvel Horror Movie. The director, Sam Raimi has directed many horror classics like The Evil Dead duology.

The monsters in the film are supposed to be including Shuma Gorath, a one-eyed monster. The Shuma Gorath will be linked to Wanda who is ready to disrupt anything that stands in her way of finding her children by jumping realities. As we know, Wanda is headstrong and with her latest transformation, her powers have only increased. The movie will be heavily influenced by her actions and Elizabeth Olsen’s secrecy about the film is also igniting the desire to find out more and more about the movie.

Spider-Man: No Way Home Builds Upon Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

While the fans continue eagerly waiting for the movie, many have theorized that the upcoming, Spider-Man: No Way Home, will be Part 1 to the larger story. From what can be seen in the trailer, Spider-Man will add his own fair bit into the multiverse confusion, piling on to all the matters that need to be resolved by Strange except, in this case, he too can be credited with the mess unleased. In short, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ties the entire Phase 4 to the MCU and with each other as well as playing the role of an initiation for the newly introduced characters. That is the very reason why it is going to be the best movie of the MCU Phase 4.

The Movie Culture Synopsis

The other projects that Marvel has in mind following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are Ms Marvel, Thor: Love and Thunder. They have also lined up their Phase 5 with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever being the first to release. Marvel has big plans (as can be expected) and thus with Phase 5 already in the works, all we can do for now is wait for May to watch the best of Phase 4.
