Thanos has become a pop culture phenomenon and fans will love to see more of him from Eternals saga. Thanos first appeared in the Avengers movie. Marvel studio built the character of Thanos from there and made him the big, bad, and mad Titan in the Avengers Infinity War and Avenger End Game. Thanos of MCU is very different from the Marvel Comics’ Thanos. His abilities and powers are different too. Thanos is an anti-hero in comics but MCU has not clearly explained the villainous acts of Thanos.
Despite all this, Thanos gave a hard time to the MCU superheroes. Very heroes had a proper chance of winning against Thanos. Though it is clear that DC and Marvel’s power structures are different. From DCEU’s point of view, Thanos is not a big threat against the heroes. There are several characters who can easily beta Thanos. Thanos’s infinity gauntlet actually does not work in the DC universe. There is a dedicated comic book on this incident when DC and Marvel universe merged with one another.
This article will discuss the characters who are from DC Extended Universe can beat Thanos. This writing will not address the characters from DC comics.
Shazam
Shazam, a character with the magical powers of the gods is as powerful as Superman. He has physical strength as well as magical powers.
When Billy Batson utters the word “SHAZAM,” he is granted the powers of Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury, which magically turns him into a ridiculously powerful character. A fight between Shazam and Thanos would not be easy for anyone, but Thanos wouldn’t stand a chance without his Gauntlet. DC’s Shazam is still in the early stage of his powers and his full potential isn’t explored yet.
Doomsday
In the comics, Doomsday was the result of a Kryptonian experiment to create the perfect being who would be capable of surviving any threat. In the movie, Doomsday was created from the corpse of General Zod by Lex Luthor. Doomsday has the capability of defeating Thanos. Thanos has no chance against it. Darkseid also hated this creature in comics.
Doomsday only gets stronger and enhances his appearance by eradicating his weaknesses.
Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman is the daughter of Zeus. She is a demigod. She also possesses skills and fighting abilities as an Amazonian Princess. There is no match for her fighting skills across the entire DC Universe.
She had defeated Aries who is a god of war and son of Zeus. When it comes to a fight between her and Thanos, she will easily be able to earn a victory against Thanos.
Black Adam
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam is going to release in theatres on July 29, 2022. Black Adam is one of the strongest villains of DC comics. DCEU will make no delay to show Black Adam’s full power in his solo movie. Black Adam’s power and abilities are quite similar to Shazam’s. In the case of Shazam, his powers are shared among his siblings. Black Adam does not share his powers. In some stories, he is more powerful than Superman.
Black Adam can simply defeat Thanos with no sweat. DC fans who are not familiar with the name of Black Adam have seen a glimpse of Black Adam’s powers in the short teaser.
Old Gods
Old Gods are first mentioned in the Wonder Woman movie in DCEU. Zack Snyder’s Justice League showed their powers of them. They easily defeated Darkseid and defeating Thanos is not a big issue for them. Old Gods’ members are the Greek gods like Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Heracles, Ares, Hermes, Apollo, Athena, Aphrodite, and many other gods.
Superman
Superman could probably beat Thanos with his superpowers. In a straight battle, Superman can overpower Thanos. It was revealed many times that Superman does show the full extent of his power because his true powers can destroy Earth in a moment.
Thanos would need to be strategic to counter Superman. He needs a perfect plan to trap the Man of Steel. Thanos will never be a big threat to Super Man.
Darkseid
Darkseid is the DC’s version of Thanos to Marvel fans but he is more powerful than Thanos. Both characters were introduced in the comics around the same time. Darkseid was one of Superman’s villains and one of the few who can actually defeat him. In modern comics, he is turned into DC Universe’s Justice League villain. Jack Snyder’s Justice League had introduced a glimpse of Darkseid’s power for the first time in a live-action movie.
In terms of power, Darkseid has a big advantage against Thanos. He is considered to be the most powerful among the New-gods of the DC Universe. He is an immortal being who has the power to manipulate matter and energy. He can teleport and can fire Omega beams which can easily smash Thanos. He is also a master tactician.
Michael Demiurgos
Michael helped God when Lucifer rebelled against God. MICHAEL is DC’s representation of the Archangel Michael. His powers far exceed any character in the DC universe. Some fans argue that he is not as powerful as Lucifer.
Michael has the ability to use God’s Power of creation. He defeated Lucifer and his army of Rebel Angels. He has immortality and also is omnipotent, and omniscient. He has already appeared in Netflix’s Lucifer series which is connected to CW’s Arrowverse and DCEU. Thanos has no chance against the third most powerful being of DC Universe.
Lucifer Morningstar
Lucifer Morningstar is the fallen Angel who is DC’s version of Biblical Lucifer. He rebelled against God and also was defeated against the forces of Heaven. His rebellion against God failed and was banished to rule Hell for eternity. One day, he decided to hang it all up. He cut off his angelic wings and decided to become a lounge singer on earth. The angels of Heaven didn’t accept his abandonment of Hell, which caused chaos in heaven and earth.
In terms of powers, he is the Devil king or the original devil. Lucifer’s powers are almost similar to God’s powers. He is considered to be the second strongest being in DC Universe. Due to his arrogance and pride, He will never acknowledge Thanos as a threat. Lucifer had appeared in Crisis on Infinite Earths of Arrowverse which was related to DCEU. His solo adventures can be seen in his own Netflix show.
The Movie Culture Synopsis
Thanos possesses the superhuman physical strength of the Eternals and he also has a high intelligence level. But in reality, DC Comics’ hall of villains is more powerful and strategical. From DC’s perspective, Thanos is not a big threat to any hero.
DCEU is at its early stage and many major characters are still untouched. So, there are many characters remaining in the DC Comics who can beat Thanos.
