Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the most significant movie of MCU Phase 4 and fans are hoping for many surprise cameos for this one. Marvel Studios is very cunning in hiding characters. Fans are also guessing that they have been misled by the trailer.
The new trailer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduces us to many of Strange’s old friends, colleagues, and enemies and even some new ones like America Chavez. But it also shows its antagonists. In the trailer, Stephen Strange is going to face an evil version of himself. This evil Strange seems very similar to Doctor Strange of What If…?, the first animated series of Marvel Studios. The trailer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer seems to set up multiple villains. It is also possible that the trailer is hiding its true villain. This article will discuss all the possibilities, rumours, and reports.
A Marvel Legends toy for Doctor Strange’s sequel may reveal the Marvel Cinematic Universe film’s one of the secret villains. Entertainment Earth has recently listed the “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Marvel Legends D’Spayre 6-Inch Action Figure.” The details of the figure indicate the possibility of D’Spayre’s appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In the previous cases, toys and action figures of characters do not confirm their appearance in a given film.
D’Spayre which is created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne is a demon that first appeared in 1978. This fictional character is one of the Fear Lords. Fear Lords is a group of beings who are powered by others’ fear.
Tiboro was banished to the Sixth Dimension. He was the Sixth Dimension’s Sorcerer Supreme with the power of lightning. He once ruled the civilization on Earth. Tiboro is a villain who had a history of clashes with Miss America, Doctor Strange, the Black Knight, and even Baron Mordo in comic books. With America Chavez’s debut in this MCU movie, there is a high possibility of Tiboro’s appearance.
Shuma-Gorath is also known as The Great Old One. Shuma-Gorath lives in an extra-dimensional realm and is a godlike being, as well as a member of the group known as the Old Ones. The figure had conquered hundreds of dimensions. Shuma-Gorath was first introduced by writer Robert Howard in the 1920s. He was portrayed as one of the most powerful antagonists in Marvel comic books.
Shuma-Gorath fought against Doctor Strange, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and even the Guardians of the Galaxy. He certainly is a threat across the multiverse. The Lego Toys series of Multiverse of Madness has also teased this monster villain Shuma-Gorath.
It is not confirmed what the name of the giant, one-eyed, tentacled monster will be in the movie. But MCU had told that the monster’s name would be Gargantos. A giant sea monster, Gargantos has not featured heavily in Marvel comics. He had only a significant role in the 1969 comic. There is a possibility that Marvel may present a combined version between Gargantos the sea monster and the ancient demon Shuma-Gorath. It is also possible that Shuma-Gorath is renamed Gargantos in the MCU.
‘Evil Doctor Strange’
The trailer has confirmed that ‘Evil Doctor Strange’ will be in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This Doctor Strange’s variant with dark personality is often called ‘Strange Supreme’ in the comics. He is also known as the Necromancer in the comics.
This variant is first introduced in Marvel’s What If…?. This twisted variant will take on Doctor Strange of MCU. He will be one of the most powerful beings who has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Marvel Legends collection of a Multiverse of Madness leak has confirmed Master Mordo’s appearance. Chiwetel Ejiofor is portraying Mordo’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Master Mordo will be One of Mordo’s variants. The MCU’s primary Mordo will appear in Multiverse of Madness, as the trailer has confirmed.
According to the plot leaks, Master Mordo will be a Sorcerer Supreme in a different universe. That same plot leak has also told us that Master Mordo would be a member of The Illuminati.
The most likely is the Elder God named Chthon, who’s already been strongly foreshadowed in the MCU – most notably in WandaVision.
Chthon is a Lovecraftian monster. He with his fellow Elder Gods ruled Earth long before the existence of humanity. They were all banished from this existence. Chthon foresaw the banishment and decided to leave behind a collection of scrolls. This collection of scrolls became the Darkhold, a book of forbidden magic. WandaVision has officially introduced the MCU’s version of the Darkhold. At the end of that series, Scarlet Witch was learning magic from the Darkhold’s pages.
The Doctor Strange 2 trailer shows Scarlet Witch’s costume turning blacker. Another shot shows Doctor Strange using the Darkhold as well. So, fans cannot ignore the Darkhold and its creator Chthon.
The concept of the Multiverse in the MCU has limitless possibilities and boundaries. There are rumours that many of FOX universe’s characters may appear. Fans are crazy about these possibilities. A new rumour has also told that one of Fox’s X-Men would have a big battle with one of MCU’s characters. So, it is hard to predict all the possible cameos in Multiverse of Madness.
